Before starting, make sure you have any save file from BotW. it’s not a large advantage, but it is one.
If you are following this for a one-and-done and don’t want to lose the Ancient Shortsword/Training Sword, for example if you want to use this file casually later, simply lock them and don’t waste fuse material on them.
Battlefield Specific drops is really nice in the first few chapters, you’ll have to micromanage stuff much less later
Battle EXP+(+) weapon fuses are really nice early on because rupee management is rough cuz of fuse rng.
You’ll get one on Zelda early on, try to fuse it with more and use it as fuse material much later.
These notes are somewhat aimed at people wanting to do a “one-and-done”. If you are "one and done"ing, consider simply buying out all shops and merchants (except gems) during the final vicious monster section repeatedly. This gives up somewhere in the range of 10-15 minutes but ensures cleanup will be painless.
Timing is by Time Attack. That is to say, you may take any number of breaks, so long as you take the following measure to help verification if this ever gets a leaderboard somewhere, someday:
- The end of a segment is the frame where you regain control before pausing your timer. Make sure to retime your segments as you go because it’ll be a lot of work later. Be careful not to press “+” as this will open a menu and invalidate your timer pause, as you’re effectively menuing.
- For verification purposes, you can do one of two things. In both situations, start by pressing “-” and opening the “Gallery” menu and scrolling to where the in-game timer is (final page). Your options are:
- suspend the game (press “HOME”) and leave it suspended until you restart your timer, resuming such that the Timer is still displayed. Time begins again on button input to close the menu back to the Map.
- suspend the game (press “HOME”) and manually quit the game with the X button. Timing begins again on selecting “Continue” on the main menu.
It should be noted that this is not a segmented run - you may not restart a section repeatedly to obtain an optimal time.
Desirable Weapon Builds
Hammer
- base hammer you want Fusion +xxx%+ or settle for the highest base you can get (often only 21 but it can go higher). Fusion + can save a lot of time and there’s theoretically a world it’s worth resetting for one.
- Fusion EXP +xxx%/Material Drops x3
- you would love a sensor registered seal
- spending Fusion EXP +150% is nice on the hammer since it hits 20/25/30 so easily. even low level weapons with the seal can push it 1-20 at 10-15.
- hold out as long as you can for a good hammer, you’ll be told when to fuse it up.
Master Sword
- hold out as long as you can for a good hammer, you’ll be told when to fuse it up.
- Attack Speed++ x2 / Material Drops x2 or IQFW or Battle EXP+(+) as filler
- you get a guaranteed second AS++ later, you can use a battle exp or mats as filler.
- rare material drop rate if you find it is a very good filler seal and basically ensures you won’t have to buy GACs for Terrako
- Sheikah Slate
- Fusion EXP +xxx%/Attack Speed/Materials/Improves Quality of Found Weapons
- Bow of Light
Attack Speed is nice but not required
